An all-mode receiver, the Mk III offers many new features: new TXCO for greater stability; a brighter back-lit display; new telescopic antenna; new keyboard layout; black case; 1500mAh high capacity Ni-MH batteries.
The unit can be computer controlled by a side-mounted connector and lead. The lead can also be used to clone data between two AR-8200s, along with tape and detector output, mute and AGC. Software is available on CD-ROM and updates can be downloaded from the AOR website. A lead to connect to Scout or Super Searcher is available as an accessory.
Optional internal slot cards fit into the unit's base which extend the capabilities:
* Memory Slot card - increases storage to 4,000 memories, 160 search banks * CTCSS Slot card - added squelch and search facilities * Record Chip Slot card - records up to 20 seconds of audio * Tone eliminator Slot card - to use shortwave bands * Voice Inverter Slot card - Unscrambles some scrambled transmissions
This unit is supplied with Ni-Cds, charger, cigar lighter lead, whip antenna, MW bar antenna, belt hook and screws, strap and a comprehensive illustrated operating manual.
