What Amateur radio would you recommend to get started?
With the amount of different Amateur radio's on the market, it can be quite danting as to what to buy. In most cases your budget will determine what you can afford.  There are a number of questions you need to ask yourself before you invest in any equipment:-

1. What is your budget?
2. Can I afford to buy a HF radio and a VHF/UHF radio?
3. Do I want a radio that covers the full range of bands?
4. What kind of antenna do I want? A multi-band antenna or a mono-band antenna?
5. Do I have enough space to put up multiply antenna's are am I limited to two antenna's?

For a basic setup to get you started on HF only the Icom 718 is a great and cheap Amateur radio to start with.  If you want to cover all bands, than something like the Yaesu 857D would suit.  For a cheap antenna that covers the majority of HF bands, we would recommend either a half size G5RV wire antenna (40m to 10m) or a full size G5RV wire antenna (80m to 10m).  You will also need a transformer and an ATU.
What homebase antenna would you recommend for 2m/70cm?
One of our most popular 2m/70cm homebase antenna's is the Sharman X300 Dual Antenna.
What mobile antenna would you recommend for 6m/2m/70cm?
We have just started to sell the CR-627 tri-band mobile antenna.  The feedback from our customers is very positive.
